Design, Planning Application and Tender drawings for a contemporary two storey extension to an existing rural cottage to provide for a 4 bedroom dwelling in a woodland setting in County Wicklow.
The existing two room cottage will be refurbished to accommodate one bedroom with walk in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom. It will be connected by a glazed link to the new two storey extension. The extension's ground floor containing the open living area is a zinc clad pavilion lightweight structure glazed to south and east which cantilevers into the garden.
It's solid base is a soft shaped semi basement with battered stone walls sunken into the slope to form a generous terrace for the floor above while providing for three intimate bedrooms with an ensuite each at garden level.
The building is designed to achieve a grade A building energy rating, highly insulated, with solar panels on the roof and a geothermal heat pump (water to water) for heating and warm water supply.
